Lyrics
Where should know but hand clapper
Oh lord!
Chewing downtown just saw me yelled down
Oh lord!
Chew myself up now I'm a hand clapper
Oh lord!
Blowing onto your headphone you won’t let me
Oh lord!
Make shoot myself in I'm a hand clapper
Oh lord!
I'll wrap myself onto my hand clapper
Oh lord!
Shoot and kill that dumb bitch who left me
Oh lord!
Where she [..] cus’ I’m a hand clapper
Oh lord!
Awsome!
Woooo!
Yaaay!
Woooo!
Yaaay!
(Hi)
(Yo yo)
Where should know but hand clapper
Oh lord!
Chewing downtown just saw me yelled down
Oh lord!
Chew myself up now I'm a hand clapper
Oh lord!
Blowing onto your headphone you won’t let me
Oh lord!
Make shoot myself in I'm a hand clapper
Oh lord!
I'll wrap myself onto my hand clapper
Oh lord!
Shoot and kill that dumb bitch who left me
Oh lord!
Where she [..] cus’ I’m a hand clapper
Oh lord!
Awsome!
Woooo!
Yaaay!
Woooo!
Yaaay!
Recording and Information
Hand Clapper was written around 1999 and it's one of the first Gorillaz demos made by Damon Albarn, around the same time other demos, such as Acoustic 2 and Bill Murray were also being written. Albarn used the same machine to record the demos for the tracks from the Blur album 13,[1] such as I Got Law, which would later evolve into Tomorrow Comes Today.
The track was first made available through combined multitrack stems on different rooms of the Kong Studios' Phase 1 website, and could be heard on 2-D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel's computers, separatly. The song had not been fully released until almost 20 years later, when it was featured on the Demoz LP from the Gorillaz 20th Anniversary Boxset, where the full version of the song was included alongside 4 other previously unreleased demo tracks.
The song mostly consists of electric guitars, a keyboard and clapping, with sparse vocals and some eletronic sounds on it. While the version from the Phase 1 Kong Studios website was fully instrumental, the full version featured on the Demoz LP has 2-D's vocals on it. The website version, apart from being at a much lower audio quality, was also shorter, with a lenght of 2:13, while the full official one has a lenght of 2:58.
